The First-ever
unique Encyclopedia of the Holy Qur'an in Arabic
entitled "Al-Mojam fi Figh Luqhat al-Qur'an wa Sirr
Balagha"(A Dictionary of Quranic Lexical Items and its
Rhetorical Secret) compiled in 25 volumes have been
accomplished by the Islamic Research Foundation
affiliated to Astan Quds Razavi (the holy shrine of Imam
Reza (A.S.) located in the holy city of Mashhad,
Iran). This most comprehensive work is the most valuable
lexicon in the etymology of the words in the Holy
Qur'an. This First-ever unique Encyclopedia of the Holy
Qur'an have been accomplished after twenty years of
incessant efforts of a group of twenty distinguished
scholars in Qur'anic sciences under the supervision of
Emeritus Professor Ayatullah Muhammad Vaez Zadeh
Khurasani, who is the leading professor of the Islamic
seminary (Hawzah) and University in Iran. This
encyclopedic endeavour is also considered as reverend
authors' magnum opus.
During the research
endeavours after collecting the numerous primary sources
more 400000 index cards were prepared for this
monumental work. The origin of every word mentioned in
the Holy Qur'an comprises the subject entries of this
great work which are arranged in alphabetical order. The
origin of the every Quranic lexical item have been
researched with different aspects of the Holy Qur'an and
analyzed by discussing the views of all the prominent
philologists and exegetists of Islam from the beginning
of the Islam till the present era. The commentary,
eloquence and the circumstances of the revelation of
every Quranic lexical item have also been discussed in
detail. In the beginning of the every entry the
derivations from the origin of every word are reviewed
comprehensively.
"Al-Mojam fi Figh
Luqhat al-Qur'an wa Sirr Balagha"(A Dictionary of
Quranic Lexical Items and its Rhetorical Secret) has
received the award of "The Book of the Year, 1380, Sh /
2001 CE, the Selected Book of the Islamic Seminary of
Qum in the Year 1380 Sh / 2001 CE, The Selected Book in
the seminar to pay homage to " the Servants of the Holy
Qur'an" in the field of text culture conducted in the
year 1379 Sh / 2000 CE.
This monumental work
on the Holy Qur'an have been accomplished in 25 volumes
and so far 8 volumes of this great work have been
published comprising 7197 pages in Royal octavo size
with hardback cover.
The total cost of
the 8 volumes of this work including postal charges is

The Islamic Research
Foundation was established on Nov 12, 1984 in the holy
city of Mashhad(Iran) by Astan Quds Razavi[the Holy
Shrine of Imam Reza(A.S.),the eighth Holy Imam of the
Shi'ites] as a pioneer research and publication body and
has emerged as one of the leading research institutions
in Islamic Sciences in the Islamic world.
This research and
cultural organization with about 200 leading and
renowned Islamic seminary and university
professors,researchers and translators employed in this
scientific centre has permanently been active in the
research process covering different fields and aspects
of the Islamic learning to obtain enshrined goals of the
foundation which are as follows:
Scholarly researches
towards promotion and dissemination of Islamic Culture
through formation of research departments.

mobilizing researchers interested in cooperating with
Islamic Research Foundation.

August 2004 and 16 books were awarded prize for the Book
of the Year of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as
being selected in academic circles, the Holy Quran
fairs,Book week contests, Children Book festival,
Ferdowsi Festival, etc.
