In his Friday sermon on 20th April
2007, Shaykh al-Qardawi condemned the mass-murder of civilians in Iraq,
which claimed the lives of hundreds in Sadriyya district in Sadr city,
couple of days ago. He called upon the Iraqi people - Sunnis and Shias -
to unite against the occupation forces that have achieved nothing in
Iraq, he said. He called upon the Iraqis of all denominations to unite
in evicting the occupiers who want to get out now before tomorrow, but
what is needed is the determination and unity of the people of Iraq, he
emphasised.
Shaykh al-Qardawi said that when he heard about the massacre of 33
students in Virginia Tech, he was anxious to know who carried out the
mass-murder for which he felt sorry. He was told that the murderer was a
South Korean.
He was surprised that there was no hue and cry. If the murderer had been
an Arab or a Muslim, the Americans would have over-reacted and blown the
matter out of proportion, he said. But this time, they did not even use
the description "terrorist" against the South Korean mass-murderer.
